Driver Registration Agreement Form

Ladies & Gentlemen! This is a must read to understand how the system works to get your rides. Read to the bottom of the page to continue to the zip map selection, which then leads on to the registration screen.

The first screen that you will encounter after reading this section, is the Zip Map Screen. The Zip Map Screen is your beginning to using the system.

We would like to encourage the drivers to use the system to only subsidize their existing driving methods. Allowing time to adjust to a new set of nuances that always seem encompass technology upgrades.

As you will see in our Site Policy and User Agreement as a free service we can only guaranty your privacy as stated in our Privacy Policy web page. As we use the mobile phone systems as they exist today to facilitate our ability to connect people with people from this web site. Manufacturers of mobile devices do not posses a full proof guaranty that you will never receive a dropped call. And therefore can make any guaranty that messages(s) may or may not arrive well timed or for that matter even that will arrive at all. Most cell phone networks make a range of accuracy somewhere between 65% to 95%.

We can now lay the ground work for you to understand how we can be of service to you, the driver and your riders. Our web site visitors that need rides, will come into the system and through the information entered, we will know two important pieces of information. We have two forms or ways to enter the locations and destinations in the Find-A-Driver Selection Screen.

One piece of information, the drop down boxes with pre-entered information that already have encoded in them whether they are a restricted locations. If the check box in your registration screen is checked that you drive a restricted cab, you will not receive rides from the pickup locations listed in the drop down boxes that are non-restricted.

We do not track all of the restricted medallions in the city. We only provide that check box as a way for drivers that know all the locations that they can pick up in, to not receive so many text messages on their phone.

The other piece of information we can receive from your rider, is when they select a zip code location that you have selected in your zip code registration screen , you will receive that message. Included in that message will be the client Handle at The Taxi Stand, Client phone number,Las Vegas date and time stamp, Pick up location, Destination Location, Number in Party, Restricted Flag='Yes' or 'No".

The restricted flag will not be available where the rider enters a pickup location address manually and not from the pre-coded drop down boxes above.

Potential riders will be marketed the facts about how Taxi Drivers in Las Vegas, Nevada are processed through a FBI-Fingerprinting and investigation. Taxi Authority numbers will be required for registration. Our Privacy Policy will apply to this type of information.

It is our desire that drivers will be tipped better when potential riders use our system. In order to accomplish this we tell the riders that through this system,we tell the drivers, "to only take the ride if they are at least ten minutes away from their pickup location."

Consider this:

"Availability – or rather the lack of it
– is the key problem with taxi service in San Francisco at present. That is the conclusion from Police Department Taxi Detail dispatch survey data, the Chamber of Commerce survey of public attitudes, and the current study’s interviews with stakeholders. According to the dispatch survey, the chance of successfully telephoning for a taxi in Fall 2000 was just 40%."

"At present, however, taxis in San Francisco are nowhere near achieving their potential, as discussed in detail later in this chapter. Anecdotal evidence suggests poor availability, and the Taxi Commission’s own dispatch survey from Fall 2000 shows that if a passenger calls for a taxi, there is only a 40% chance of one arriving. A survey conducted in Spring 2001 for the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, meanwhile, found that more than half of people surveyed consider a shortage of taxis, ‘no shows’ and difficulty in ordering taxis in the first place to be serious problems."

Note ***
However, taxi drivers historically have been disgruntled about the fact that the Nevada Taxi Authority in Las Vegas continue to give medallions away to cab companies. Which in the drivers mind, is a thinning or depleting of their paychecks. Because of the perception between availability and supply this issue continues throughout every major metropolitan area in the nation. Our technology in the Find-A-Driver program can help relieve that problem and perception. Please continue!

"Poor availability does not necessarily mean that there are too few taxis on the streets. Availability is not the same as supply, because both supply and distribution determine availability. Poor availability in some parts of the city may be due to taxis clustering at more lucrative locations such as the airport or downtown hotels, rather than to a shortage of cabs. Dispatch technology, the number of taxis handled by each dispatch service, and the incentives for drivers to accept radio orders are other important factors that affect availability, but not the overall supply of licensed taxis."

We have also heard that there is a similar report here in Las Vegas with similar results.

The world over has issues with poor availability of taxi's through any dispatching services. With a 40% best overall rating of taxi services through those services leaves a 60% market share for the rest of the drivers to make use of. How can this system not work as we take any legally licensed taxi drivers from all available companies, allow them to join and prospect personals through our Find-A-Driver program?

Now please, think about the numbers! Only 40% of callers to our current dispatching services will actually receive a driver. That translates into only 4 out of 10 callers. So, as a result we have 6 riders that still need a ride. No wonder riders will call multiple taxi companies to get a taxi.

This is why we believe in the Find-A-Driver program!

Drivers will use our system and receive text messages on their cell phone for each ride in their zip codes they have selected. You must be able to send and receive text messages from your cell phone. It is understood that you may be in the middle of a ride when you receive your text message(s) to your cell phone. It is that primary reason that we ask the drivers to only check their last message(s) in a way that is safe and does not impede their driving skills.

The first item in the message that should be viewed, should be the location address and if you can be there within ten minutes? And the time stamp. As cell phone technology improves we will be less concerned about looking at the time stamp to make sure we have the most current message from the Find-A-Driver program. Until that time occurs, we must check the time stamp to make sure we do have the most current message from the system. In my mind it would be somewhat embarrassing to call a rider, only to find out they are already at their destination location.

Next, should be the Restricted Flag. If this matches your cab medallion, then riders phone number. Else, continue to the next message to be viewed or that will arrive soon. Call them and check with them to see if they choose you to pick them up? You are still responsible to not take calls that are not in your medallion's legal domain of activity. The Restricted Flag  feature is to only be used as a guide and be in no way viewed as infallible. Please use good judgment in your observation of the address pickup locations.

There are only a couple of situations that will apply when making that call.

1.) Rider does not answer the call. -Response- hang up, do not leave message, Go to/wait for next message from system or just continue with your normal driving procedures.

2.) Rider answers call and may or may not give you the call.

This is the honor system that we believe all of the drivers in Las Vegas are professional enough to manage. No arguing about who gets the call. The riders are instructed that it would probably not be necessary to answer all unknown caller-ids shortly after giving the ride to a driver already. As a result drivers, please follow situation in #1 above.

TheTaxiStand.Com will publish a statistical page that will inform you of all the zip codes and how many calls came from each. Which may allow you the opportunity to adjust your zip code areas for better coverage.

We suggest that the drivers only pick a few zip codes that they normally travel in at first. The more zip codes you pick, the more text messages you will receive from the Find-A-Driver program to your cell phone. We are acutely aware that some drivers will adjust well to using their cell phones. And others may not.

The creation of this program has come from a constant emerging of technologies that is going to eventually find it's way to your door step. Whether invited or not. Our hope that the drivers will learn that this is a driver based company that is not affiliated with any taxi cab, limo, or livery company of any kind.

The technology is there to transform the livery industry in a blink of an eye. It is our belief that drivers would be better off, to keep this technology free to all the livery industry personnel that use the system.

To have someone in their corner and understand their needs and issues. And provide them a means to improve their incomes with greater ease. We to be completely open to accepting drivers criticism for its overall improvement. This was the original goal of technology in the very begriming. To benifit the public.

So far, technology has provided overwhelming benefits and profits to Big Brother and Corporations. Now is the time for the average individual driver to ask him/her self, how the constantly emerging technology of today, is going to effect your ability to provide for my family or myself in the near future?

Drivers supporting this process by joining and letting the community at large know that our system is supported by the drivers. This in turn will allow potential advertisers to buy into our sponsorship program. Which will keep our doors open. And to keep the Find-A-Driver system free to all that use it and the providing company (MileStone Services via TheTaxiStand.Com) is seriously concerned about your needs and issues.

As a third party vendor of services, we have no need for any other concerns other than our Drivers, Advertisers and each of their clients.

Taxi Authority: We do not attempt in any way, shape or form, nor desire to alter existing rules or regulations of any kind from any local city, county, or federal government body's.

Livery Companies: We have no need to alter any of their rules they have set forth in their policies to govern their employees. We knew from the beginning that the companies will make more money from the drivers using our system and save fuel in the process by having less dead head miles.

Warning:

MaCarran AirPort:  We do not at this time suggest or direct any customer using the Find-A-Driver System, to use this system or to utilize this system in anyway for any pick up locations at MaCarran AirPort. There are no negotiations planned or designed at this time for Taxi Medallion usage tracking or any specified pickup locations at that facility. We do however, pickup rides at the other airports in the valley.

Warning:

Drivers will be responsible for rides that they receive from this system. Some rides may come to you that you are not legally yours to take due to your obligations regarding your medallion on your taxi. We only track restricted cabs that can not pick up at certain locations that we have pre-programmed as restricted locations in the drop down boxes. We do not have total control from what the clients using this system will enter into the address info section of the Find-A-Driver program. Please, do not takes rides you can not legally take! You end up wasting time, when you find out where they are located and you can not take the ride. Your text message will tell you if it is a restricted ride. However, we can not guaranty in any possible way, that all drivers will not receive any messages from the Find-A-Driver program that you are legally bound not to pick up. It will be your responsibility not to take those rides.
